Our Grooming Expertise
Some people feel we are their only hope. Some animals are so old, with rippled skin, matted fur, and have little or no balance. We have to be careful with everything we do to provide safe grooming, especially for the most vulnerable animals.
We can usually groom all animals providing pet owners call in the morning no later than 11:00 am to schedule a grooming time. We generally plan our work day so that we can accommodate customers the same day however, this is providing customers do not bring multiple animals that day or one of our staff of two does not have to attend to an important personal matter. We appreciate Customers who schedule grooming appointments. Regular customers may receive discounted prices.
We groom by the traditional old school methods. We blow-dry soft coats by hand for extra beauty and comb and hand-scissor the fur many times for a smooth, even finish. We prefer not to take shortcuts and provide 2 to 4 times more labor per animal than many other shops. In addition we do not require vaccinations or other records in order to groom your pet!
We will color the head, tail, and other parts of the animals body with semi-permanent color for usually only $10 extra with the grooming.

Specialized Grooming Service
A significant number of customers for years have been traveling great distances (even out of state). A veterinarian referred us to a customer who had a Lhaso Apso has not had a haircut for 7 years and was encased with matted hair from head to toe and looked like a mummy. We provided a safe and successful grooming.
There was a woman who worked in a veterinarian office and rescued an injured a poodle mix breed. The poodle had an operation on its leg and had to end up getting a cast, we clipped and bathed the entire animal without getting water into the poodles cast. The owner and veterinarian were astounded.
In another case, we have been grooming a highly aggressive Bishon for years. The owner said we were the only ones who could handle him. The Bishon has sustained a back injury and can no longer use his back legs. The first time after the injury, he arrived in a carrying device because the dog would bite the owner when she tried to move him. The dog was matted and saturated in dried urine. We skillfully moved him around as we clipped and bathed him without injury to us or the animal.

Some dogs come to us in difficult condition—severely matted coats, sensitive skin, and limited mobility that makes standard grooming unsafe. In many cases, pet owners feel they’ve run out of options. Our specialized grooming for matted dogs is designed to handle these situations with patience, precision, and a deep understanding of what these pets need to stay safe and comfortable.
We take extra care with heavily matted coats, working slowly to avoid unnecessary stress, skin irritation, or injury. Each dog is assessed individually, and we adjust our approach based on coat condition, age, and overall health. Whether it requires careful dematting or a full reset groom, our priority is always the well-being of your pet.
Appointments for specialized grooming are best scheduled in advance, especially for dogs with severe matting, as these sessions require additional time and attention. We do our best to accommodate same-day requests when possible, but longer grooming sessions may need dedicated time slots to ensure your dog receives the care they deserve. We also recommend regular grooming moving forward to prevent matting from recurring.
Our grooming process follows traditional, hands-on methods. We carefully work through coats with hand tools, perform detailed scissoring for an even finish, and take the time needed to do the job right—often investing significantly more effort than standard grooming services. This approach is especially important for matted dogs, where shortcuts can lead to discomfort or injury.
For pet owners looking to add a little personality after a fresh groom, we also offer optional semi-permanent coloring for areas like the head or tail. Most importantly, we aim to restore comfort, cleanliness, and confidence to dogs who need it most—because every pet deserves to feel better in their own skin.
